Our Linda Goodman New Voices event gives aspiring, practiced, and polished storytellers (professional and amateur) the opportunity to take the stage at the 2024 Stone Soup Storytelling Festival. Tellers should be prepared to perform a polished, festival-quality story suitable for a family audience. Six (6) tellers will be selected. Honorarium and cash prizes will be awarded.

  • Complete the online application form and submit it no later than midnight, January 31, 2024.
  • Submit a sample video of no more than five (5) minutes in length. Video links are preferred. If the sample is longer than 5 minutes please give reference to the time it should be cued. The sample does not need to be the story you will tell on stage at Stone Soup Storytelling Festival.

  • Free admission to all festival performance events
  • Promotions in Festival related brochures and publications, online and hard copy
  • An honorarium of $50 for performance during the New Voices Event at the Festival.
  • A chance to win prize money. Prizes will be Third Place ($50); Second Place ($100); First Place ($200); and People’s Choice Award ($50 bonus.)
  • A chance to become a Featured Teller for the 2025 Festival. While not a guarantee, the festival committee will take into consideration one or more 2025 Featured Tellers from the 2024 New Voices.

Other Contest Rules

  • Eligibility: If you have ever been selected as a Featured Teller at Stone Soup, or if you have been selected as a New Voice in the past two (2) years, you are not eligible to apply.
  • Selected New Voices will travel to the Festival at their own expense, with no monetary compensation except for the honorarium and prize money.
