2025 Stone Soup Storytelling Festival

The Official Storytelling Festival of South Carolina

April 25-26, 2025

Our Linda Goodman New Voices event gives aspiring, practiced, and polished storytellers (professional and amateur) the opportunity to take the stage at the 2024 Stone Soup Storytelling Festival. Tellers should be prepared to perform a polished, festival-quality story suitable for a family audience. Up to five (5) tellers will be selected. Honoraria will be given.

Submission Requirements

Complete the online application form and submit it no later than midnight, December 31, 2024.
Submit a sample video of no more than five (5) minutes in length. Video links are preferred. If the sample is longer than 5 minutes please give reference to the time it should be cued. The sample does not need to be the story you will tell on stage at Stone Soup Storytelling Festival.

New Voice Selectees Receive:

Free admission to all festival performance events.
Promotions in Festival related brochures and publications, online and hard copy.
An honorarium of $50 for performance during the New Voices Event at the Festival.
A chance to become a Featured Teller for the 2026 Festival. While not a guarantee, the festival committee will take into consideration one or more 2026 Featured Tellers from the 2025 New Voices.

Other Contest Rules

Eligibility: If you have ever been selected as a Featured Teller at Stone Soup, or if you have been selected as a New Voice in the past two years (2023 or 2024 Festivals), you are not eligible to apply.
Selected New Voices will travel to the Festival at their own expense, including housing, with no monetary compensation except for the honorarium.
Cancellation: In the unlikely event that the 2025 Stone Soup Storytelling Festival is canceled, neither Stone Soup Storytelling Institute, nor any of its agents, successors, or subsidiaries will be obligated for any expenses or inconveniences.
Maximum Story Length: Each Linda Goodman New Voices participant will tell one story for a maximum length of ten (10) minutes. Stories lasting longer than 10 minutes will be disqualified; time is of the essence.
Family Friendly Content: Performances for the Linda Goodman New Voices event may be of any genre, but appropriate for a general audience. Please remember children may be in the audience.
